Red Rock Canyon Open Space has trails of all levels, an off-leash dog area, and fantastic views of the Garden of the Gods and climbing by permit. The park consists of a series of parallel red rock ridges (called “hogbacks”) and eroded canyons, a continuation of the same sandstone rocks of the Fountain Formation that make up Garden of the Gods to the north.
Crags to Horsethief Falls is a 9.67-mile section of the Ring the Peak trail located near Cripple Creek. The trail features a waterfall and mountain meadows.
The most challenging hike in Manitou Springs. 2,744 steps climb 2000 ft. in elevation in under one mile. Plan on 2+ hours for this 4.5 mile round-trip hike.
